Charles Bender & Co. S.E. Corner 3rd and Chestnut. 1837-44. Brass. 27mm. 38 Cents variety.

This is a primitive piece containing a brass planchet with incused descriptions. The planchet is slighly irregular, though the incused lettering is sharp and bold.

Uniface. Die is just beginning to fill along lower right side with the result that the beads from 4-6:00 are weak. In later stages, the right side of the “4” is very weak, however, on this example it is bold.
