This token appears cleaned. However, according to Sullivan, the gilded brass pieces were heavily coated in an attempt to simulate gold.
Obv: HENRY CLAY ELECTED PRESIDENT A.D. 1844.
Rev: THE MILLBOY OF THE SLASHES / INAUGURATED / MARCH 4TH 1845. DeWitt HC 1844-33.
Holed, as issued. Unsigned, but McSorley ascribes this piece to the Miller firm of Louisville, KY. The 1845 date on the obverse anticipates the inaugural that was never to be for Clay.
